Family Canoe Hire - Half day

Hire quality canoeing equipment for your family a half day of exploring the canoeing capital of Australia.

Our hires are per canoe and NOT per person. 

A half day canoe hire is great for splashing around and having fun in the Canoeing Capital of Australia. With numerous rivers and creeks feeding into Lake Yarrunga, you'll never be short of places to explore!

This hire is for up to a maximum of four (4) paddlers per canoe only. Either two (2) adults and two (2) children or one (1) adult and three (3) children. If you have a family with two (2) adults and three (3) or more children then please call us to book - we have special offers for larger family groups.

Your family canoe hire includes:

 - All required canoeing equipment, including

 - 1 x canoe (Silverbirch Broadland with extra seat, Wenonah Prospector with kids lean back chairs, or Wenonah Heron with kids lean back chairs) 

 - Aluminium paddles for everyone in your family, including kids sized paddles

 - Life jackets (PFD) for everyone in your family, sizes available for all ages: infants to adults.

 - Laminated maps of the local waterways along with local knowledge and route advice

 - Laminated canoeing game ideas and a scavenger hunt!

 - Foundational technique coaching and safety instruction

 - Return transport for your family*, canoes & accessories to the location (*if your children are under 5 years old you we recommend that you transport your children in your own car using a suitable child restraint.)

Our staff will provide route recommendations on the day based on your family's experience, abilities, interests and of course the weather! Our goal is to ensure you have a great experience exploring one of our favourite places. Launch locations may include Tallowa Dam or Bendeela based on a range of factors including water levels, weather conditions, site access and more. If you have a specific location request please let us know at the time of booking.

You will receive foundational technique coaching and safety instruction from your guide before heading out on your journey.

Valley Outdoors' canoes are high quality craft provided by Paddle and Portage Canoes: Australia’s only importer of Wenonah and Silverbirch Canoes. Silverbirch Broadland 15' and 16' models are manufactured in the UK using advanced roto moulding techniques to create a stable, robust and efficient shaped plastic canoe. Wenonah Prospector 16' and Wenonah Heron 15' t-formex (previously royalex) models are hand crafted in the USA. Wenonah has been mastering its process for over 50 years and is known for its rich canoeing history.

No experience is required - just a willingness to jump in!
