Make your own Canadian style wooden canoe paddle. Over three days you will be hands on with traditional tools crafting your own wooden paddle. The course finishes with a celebratory canoe journey and the paddle is yours to keep!
This paddle making workshop will teach the fundamentals of paddle making from a single piece of timber. You will be introduced to a variety of paddle designs, paddle sizing and paddle care. The course also includes instruction on how to use a combination of traditional and power tools.
You don’t need any equipment to participate in the workshop. Everything you need to shape a paddle will be provided for you and is included in the price. We also provide personal protective equipment when needed.
You can buy perfectly serviceable aluminium and plastic paddle for canoeing. But why would you when you can make your own proper wooden paddle?!
